Ground Floor

Offering around 1,000 sq ft of flexible creative space, the ground floor can be used to enhance your experience at the studio. Exposed, rough concrete flooring and exposed brick walls give the floor an industrial feel and look. The space provides a more edgy backdrop for shoots and productions.

The ground floor offers a selection of paper Coloramas, to be used as requested. The space can be used as an atelier for your more creative shoots. If you need space to prepare costumes, allegories and scenarios, then we’ve got you covered. We can also store your work for your next day’s shooting.

The Forge

The building is Locally Listed and in the Fish Island and White Post Lane Conservation Area. The area has a high proportion of industrial buildings of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, many of which retain associations with numerous industrial activities that typified the area from the mid nineteenth century. Many of these buildings have been converted to artist studios or managed space for small businesses.

The building exterior has Fletton bricks in an English bond and the window and door openings are mainly in the gable ends with steel roof trusses and internal steel braces and joists with timber floors. Some internal walls have original exposed brickwork. The original windows are cast iron with segmental arched header lintels and bullnose engineering brick sills and the more recent windows are modern aluminium casements. The most intact elevation is that onto Dace Road to the west with sliding timber doors and four original windows. The west entrance of the building is home for Mello Studios.

Our Story

Mello Studios is a film and cheap photography studio located in Hackney Wick, East London. We are located between Victoria Park and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, only moments from the London Stadium built for the 2012 London Olympics.

The studio is located inside an early 20th Century industrial building. Part of the former Crown Wharf, the property still holds several unique period features, including exposed red and white painted brick walls, a vaulted bow truss roof, crittall windows and the old electrical junction boxes which served the original industrial tenants.

Our background in the arts, film and performance has driven and enabled us to create a studio space which ticks all the right boxes.  We have lovingly created a unique setting for our creative and commercial clients and their talent to enjoy and use to produce stunning and memorable content.

The studio space has an abundance of natural light from the diffused glass atrium standing at around 7 meters tall. Our studio offers a range of additional amenities and facilities, making it perfect for any shoot or production.
